Hero is a real-time motion tracking and personalised feedback app that helps you make the most of every workout.
Upon joining the company, one of the pressing matters that caught my attention was the website. Interestingly, it was the website that has drawn me to the company before I joined. However beautiful it already was, it needed some good old TLC. It was built in Webflow, which I had vague experience with, so naturally, I volunteered to design the whole thing, and then use Webflow to build it from scratch.
Working at start-ups often requires brave actions, and this seemed like a good way to save company some money.
Existing research, strong ideas
Luckily, a lot of research in terms of what the company is looking for in a website was already conducted. So together with Hero’s Head of Design and Head of Product, we began evaluating the project.
Challenges
Designing websites isn’t easy, and Webflow is not the best tool to build them. If it wasn’t for years of experience I have with front-end development, this would’ve been a a completely different story.
Like with any project, compromises had to be made.

Important thing in projects like these is patience and staying in state of play. It’s easy to fall under the daunting task and mounting comments, but with the right mindset and the right team, we managed to create something beautiful and most important of all, usable!
Learnings & Takeaways
From zero to a Webflow Hero. This project, challenging as it was, was a great learning experience. Every time I am forced to be a beginner again, and am forced to be uncomfortable, is where I grow, and thrive.
Would I use Webflow for my personal projects? No. But if I ever have to, I’ll be more than comfortable to say “Yes, I can do it”.
